Rim visual difference
I am juggling between going from a 17 to an 18 inch twist for no reason other than I think it fits the wheel well better. Is it an optical illusion or is it the same because the 18” has less tire wall? These are porsche twists with the factory designated tires. Actually for a Boxster but figured more action over here.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The wheel opening and the tire are both black. The wheel is the "color". So yes, a larger wheel is going to present a different optical 'illusion'.
Now for the practical stuff. 17 inch wheel/tire combination may be lighter than 18's, and handling-wise unsprung weight is by far the best place to lose pounds. 17's have taller sidewalls and will flex more, which takes away some steering quickness. Then there are ride quality considerations. There also may be tire size availability issues to consider.
Blah blah blah. Looks-wise I like 18's, maybe going plus one on the tires. Good luck and let us know where you end up!

I went with a 19" to fill the wheel well gap on mine and like the look much better then the 18" but it's personal preference. I'll wait to be attacked by the all 18" lovers....LOL

18s always pop up on ebay if you are looking for a used set of Carreras or Twists. Every so often you see a set of Technos as well.
If you have a local Porsche indy you use, let them know you are looking for a set. They always know who is selling. Just make sure you have a good shop locally that can recondition them. Your indy can make a recomendation.
Go with what YOU like. Just make sure it fits and you can find tires in the right sizes.

Thanks, great advice. I will reach out to my indie.
I find the tough part is the offset. I have 55 and 50. I think I can go 5 either way though not positive.
