Default Fuel door actuator test

Does anyone have the proceedure to test this part? Does it get a ground, 5v or 12v signal from the imobilizer. I have the diagram but it just says where the 2 wires go to and how their label. Also is there just a signal or voltage sent when u hit the lock botton?

Is the actuator suppose to move if the fuel door is open and u hit the lock button? Can someone check for me?

This all comes from me getting a double beep when i try to lock my car and now i cant lock the doors. I thought it was the passenger side door lock because i didnt hear it moving but after swaping in the lock from my donor car i still had the double beep but now i hear it move. So then i thought it was the fuel door lock because it doesnt move when u hit the botton and i was messing with the evap canister a few weeks ago. This is when i started getting the double beep. After pulling it apart the plug for the actuator was loose and upon inspection it was broken. I must have jambed the canister into it?

Turns out the plug for the outside door handle microswitch is the same so i tried to splice the donor car harness in but the actuator still doesnt move and i still get the double beep.

It just gets power and ground , and reversed polarity on the 2 wires changes the direction in or out...it doesn't care if the fuel door is open or closed ..

The Immo sends the power and ground and if an open circuit or charted circuit you will get the double beep. Also should get a code in the Immo...

There is also a 10A fuse directly on the Immo that if blown will cause this and several other things not to work..

Thx. As far as i can tell everything else is working but ill check that fuse jic.

Ill do my testing tomor and verify 12v and ground and im sure u can rig up a pig tail to test the actuator.

So another couple hours if diagnostics and stil no joy. The fuel door actuator and the frunk lever lock actuator both work when given 12v and ground. The harness also tests good for continuity with no shorts to ground or the other wire. At this point the immobilizer is not sending the 12v signal. Im guessing because the fault is elsewhere and it doesnt want to lock anything.

Fuse is good, i can hear the door locks move, the windows go up and down with the handle, the frunk, engine lid and arm rest micoswitches all test good. Didnt touch anything with the radio so it shouldnt be that ground wire issue......

Not sure where to go from here but get/borrow a duremetric or find a decent scanner that can read the immobilizer. I hate not having the coreect tools, my expensive autel will not read the gt3 computer eventhough its the same protocal as the 996 mk2 c2.

Aaron can you put your C2 immobilizer in it to test?
As far as I know there is nothing that would stop the fuel door lock from locking. My car is missing the center console and the infared sensors in the roof which makes all sorts of funny beeps but it still locks everything.

A PIWIS would realy realy help in this situation....

It can show door lock position whether locked or unlocked status and real time switch activations

Can show whether last 5 lock functions was from remote or manual

Can show what triggered last 5 alarms instances

Can perform self activations

Can of course show stored fault codes and a LOT of values...I definitely think you should borrow/buy/rent one, to solve this one...

I would loan you mine but is unfortunately down with a hard drive crash.. ( self induced )

Yea not sure anyone around 19810 has a pwis. If so reach out .

Doubt ill pay a dealer $100s either. May have access to a snap-on scanner tomor. The good thing is it doesnt effect the car running or driving.

After reading the non lock issue is considered a major fault so it thinks something like a door or frunk is open. Even though the micro switches r working there may be a wiring issue back to the immobilizer. Ill find a diag tool because i dont feel like spending days with a multimeter testing wire.

Since you have already checked the 10A fuse directly on the IMMO...there are 3 more fuses that need to verified...( I double checked the wiring diagram).

Fuse #5 in the power distribution box, 80A ...I highly doubt this 80A fuse is blown, it would have sent sparks and smoke signals..lol I just included it JIC

Fuse C3 in the fuse box , 15A ;; likely suspect, sends power to IMMO for use

Fuse E1 in the fuse box 7.5A ....sends power to IMMO for external consumers..ect...

Check these before going in too deep in the rabbit hole ..good luck !!

No joy with the snap in scanner, it doent read the immobilizer. I guess i need to find/buy a pwis.

Anyone know if a durametric will see the immobilizer, can someone check?

Of to check those other fuses and review the schematics for more clues.

Those other 2 fueses r good so they r not the issue. That would have been too easy.

I got the language issue fixed. Apperently i was in E (engineering) mode and u needed to be in V mode.

Its much easier to navigate. Its really lookjng lkke the immobilizer has issies. It thinks its commanding the locks but its not and its showing no faults or events.

Any ideas for tomor? Im done for tonight.

Does your car have the manual cable levers for the frunk and deck lid ? ( with the electric lock)...if so maybe the actuator there is keeping the doors from locking....unplug that too..

PS :: glad you got the language fixed, that is a big plus , I was afraid there was an issue with the "Clone" software...lol
