Default Early 996 Cabriolet Clamshell Gearbox Repair

If your clamshell motor just spins and your clamshell won't open (or close) then it is likely that your drive motor shaft has come disconnected from the clamshell motor gear drive. You can purchase these repair kits on eBay or Amazon for around $60. I made a short Youtube video on how to install that kit.

You will likely need a female square socket of size 9/32. I purchased the following one on Amazon. You will need to grind down that socket so that it fits in the drive mechanism to hold the square shaft so that you can remove the allen bolt holding the shaft in. NOTE: The allen bolt is REVERSE THREADS. Turn clockwise to remove it.
