Default ‘99 Headlights

A buddy has a 3/98 car with headlight squirters. His turn signal lenses are clear. Did all ‘99s with squirters have clear lenses, or did someone change out the ambers? Thanks.

C2 or C4? C4 never had amber in the headlights, but the side bumper lenses were amber. Not sure about the squirters on a C2 though.

They did not make the triangle that has the sprayer in yellow. So yes option 288 would not have amber lights. Pretty sure headlight washers only came with litronic lights.

I agree with hbdunn, the HID litronics on both the mrk 1 and 2, came with headlight washers. Think it's a euro thing that bled over to US cars, but the halogen versions didn't have these. The litronics became standard on the 996.2, but you still could opt for the halogen versions which didn't have the chrome washer cover. (see picture) They were rare because most people wanted the HID Xenon lights.

Hi, Thanks for the responses. It’s a ‘99 C2. I believe it has Litronics, unsure of the option codes. I’ll get back to you soon.
Is 288 the code for Litronics or squirters??

On edit:
He has both Litronics and 288.

I believe if it has litronics it also has the non-amber taillights.

So is that the consensus, If it has Litronics it has clear front AND rear turn signals?

Yes I believe this to be true. I just found a 99 with headlight washers and halogens. It had amber front and rear.

In the parts catalog it only shows clear for the litronics.

I wasnt really paying close attention when I bought my used 99 C2 back in 2003 but mine was halogen, no washers but it came with the clear front and rear lights on it.

To my knowledge the previous owner didnt do any mods to change this so was there a cut-over in late 98 when the cars got clears front and back?

C4's never had amber anything (front or rear). This is where the distinction lies. the 996.2 also got clear fronts (due to the fried egg controversy)...not sure what they did with the rears, but my gut says they're clear as well.

Well, his is a 3/98 C2 with Litronics and 288 squirters. Guessing that implies clear lenses were original to his car.
Any more input?

They did make amber triangles for the headlight washers. I know because I have two broken ones on my desk that I replaced with brand new a few months ago.
Part numbers are 996.631.035.01 (left) and 996.631.036.01 (right). They are available from a number of Porsche parts sources.
FWIW, my car is a 7/98 build with halogens and 288 washers on the build sheet.

So can we assume that the litronics option brings with it clear turn signals f&r??
and that 288 has no effect?
