Default key fob remote doesn't work, central locking ok

So I had some low voltage codes and at some point the tender outlet died which caused my battery to go flat.

I recovered the battery but remote key lock is not working, red led does light up
Central locking works from inside and also from the door mechanical lock but not the remote
I took it to my local euro shop and got a bunch of low voltage codes which they cleared but the battery is still fairly weak
they can see the commands being transmitted (I have no clue what that means) but it seems like the remote has lost programming

They said a new battery MAY alleviate the problem but will definitely alleviate the rest of the low voltage issues
if not
A new key with a programming code may be required, but if it's a problem of a module to the CLS, it won't fix it

any recommendations as to where to start?

Sheesh...put a new battery in the key fob and see if it works. And get a new battery for your car. Once a battery goes flat they don't recover well.

Can you try attaching a battery charger to simulate a stronger battery?

1. Definitely get a new car battery. 2. The most common cause of the remote not working is the solder on the key's circuit board cracking from age. 3. Learn to lock and unlock the door with the key or go through the unnecessary expense of replacing and coding a new key.

That's what's happening with my key too. The buttons on the key not working is super intermittent even with a new battery so I'm chalking it up to this. Unlocking/locking the car with the key in the door works everytime.

The barrel mechanism should be more durable than some 90's electronics.
