Question 99 996 Water pump / thermostat replacement

99 996 C4 83k miles, water pump was shot and LEAKING so I replaced it and went ahead and replaced thermostat as well. I just got done replacing the thermostat and water pump with gaskets and now my thermostat is leaking and there's a slight leak on the water pump. Did I just not install them correctly? if so may I get some advice, or is there another problem.

Here is the link to the video for more context, the short video is before the replacement and the long video is after the replacement.

Did you replace the gaskets? What brand water pump and thermostat?

So, I had a similar situation when one of the tabs on the water pump gasket had partially folded on to itself. Hard to explain but basically the tab was a "C" shape instead of an "O". Everything was tightened to spec but the double layer effect created enough gap to cause a leak.

In your case I would just go and ensure each bolt is tight to spec. Maybe something got missed? Otherwise I think next step would be pull everything off and re-seat?

will make sure the bolts are to spec, I’m hoping I don’t have to pull everything off again haha but if I have to I will
