Negative. I want to install one. It has an Alpine touch screen. I am not too familiar with its settings but you might be on to something. Seems to be quite a few menu options missing.

Just tried a DVD and only the sound works. Might be a park switch to make video show up?

Could be a high speed fan relay toggle? I think you just gotta get in there and throw it and see what happens

Back when these were still being "CPO'd" for Porsche Factory Warranty, we had to remove any aftermarket items.

The K40's were hidden with the module back behind the dash and just small radar sensors wired in the front and rear bumpers. There was always a switch to turn them off so that they are not alerting the Cops if they came up to your window. Some States had Laws against Radar Detectors so they were hidden and if you still got hit, you could turn it off and hopefully not get a ticket for speeding AND a ticket for unlawful Radar Detector...lol

All the ones I removed had a switch there or just to the right in the panel behind the center console..

Of course it could be wired to anything, I personally would be turning it off and on to see what happens instead of asking for guesses...lol

I would never question the knowledge of @Porschetech3 . The newer K40 units (got mine in 2019) come with a on/off fob vs a wired switch.

Yea, I had my heart attack in 2014 and retired. I haven't had any dealings with the new K40's, but I think they are still the top of the line along with the Valentine 1...

I’d bet that’s it. I have the same alpine headunit.

I still haven't flipped the switch, hah. I took the radio out and tried to see if I saw the same wires coming in behind it but did not.

I am trying to add a backup camera but the dang harness for reverse wire input is missing from the head unit. I bought an Alpine amp harness that uses the same connector. Hopefully it fits.
