Default Do I need a front wheel bearing on my 01 carrera

I changed the tie rod recently. And while there I felt a slight play if I push/pull on the top of the wheel. If I push/pull from the bottom I don’t get any play at all. There is 0 play from side to side. Just wondering if it’s actually a wheel bearing or something else. Wanted to get a second opinion before I go and buy a whole wheel bearing kit

If in doubt change both sides. If they r bad they can snap the retainer stub or axle shaft. Once that happens the only thing holding the wheel on is the brake caliper. The bearings r only $40 from fcpeuro but the labor can be a few hours. If u have access to a press and some basic tools it can be done in your driveway.

Mine made a noise when I spun the front wheel. Sort of a rumble. I would think this is the more likely symptom of a bad bearing than "play".
