Default Rims fitment. Will they work? F:18x10, R:18x11

I have a 2002 911 Carrera 2 and need to get a set of new rims for autox.
I want to stay under $1000 for the set and have my eye on a set of Victor Equipment Baden rims.
I have not found any other options honestly. ( Was looking for 18x9 or 18x9.5 front ideally)
Reading this forum It looks like 18x11 ET55 will fit fine with 295/30R18

All I found is an 18x10 ET50 and I have concerns about the front fitment.
I have tried fitting my rear 17" wheel up front which are 255/45R17 ET55 9" Rim and they fit. The rim is very close to the shock though (mb 7mm clearance) So a 17x10 ET55 would not fit for sure.
I suppose 18x10 ET50 with 255/35R18 with 5mm to the outside (compared to ET55) should clear the inside? (considering the shock is moving away from the rim and we go up 1/2 with 18" vs 17")
Does anyone have experience fitting 18x10 up front?

The worst thing I'll have to get a 5mm spacer or something. Then I have to consider it not rubbing the fender ...

Car is 100% stock. I'll get max camber that I can from stock suspension.

10” front, even with a 15mm spacer will get into the tie rod on the front and the toe control arm on the rear. Rub at less than full lock guarantee. No more than -1 camber with stock setup.

What are you trying to accomplish with the setup ? You've mentioned autoX but why such a wide fronts , there is very little benefit and why ?

usually 45-57 ET front for 8-9.5" wheels
rears should be 55-67 ET for 10-12" wheels - wider the wheel, the higher the offset should be - happy medium is around 60ET

If you want cheap wheels look at 18" NB (narrow body) 997 wheels - they come in 10-11" widths allow for 265-285 tires, usually go for $400-1000
specs for you...

I don't know why you are saying "very little" benefit. 255 is an adequate size tire for the front. More rubber = more grip.
255 is 10" wide, so a 10" rim would be perfect for it
You always want the widest rim the tire can fit. That optimizes the contact patch.

I think I'm gonna take a spacer, attach some wood to it and turn it to see what it hits.
My wheel well measurements aren't accurate enough.

In my mind if 255/45R17 ET55 on a 9" fits, a 255/35R18 ET50 on 10" should fit too.

Was hoping someone actually tried sticking it there before me.

OP - People have done it before over the last 15 years. One 996T guy did it with -3.2 camber and only got 3/4 of full steering with that negative camber. Probably not what you’d want for AutoX. But, hey, go for it.

Too much front tire creates turning issues because of the weight distribution on our cars. There is a tire size "balance" and bigger is not always better.

there is plenty of info out there and u may want to check in the autox section to see if a 255 is a good idea.

OP, take a look at this link to Apex wheels fitment guide. You certainly can try to fit any size you want, but this guide is one of the best at defining sizing options that will fit and tire availability. It will probably save you alot of headaches and money.

Different car, but I always thought this Tire rack testing of tire and wheel size combinations was very interesting.

Your tires/wheel specs are kind of all messed up.
I would start with this:
Front: 18x9” ET46 // Rear: 18x11” ET60
Front: 18x8.5” ET45 // Rear: 18x11” ET60

996 911 GT3 Wheel & Tire Fitment Guide – APEX Race Parts
OEM GT3:
996 8.5 x 18 et 40 (F)
996 11 x 18 et 63 (R)

I am running a 18x9 inch front wheel and a 18x11.5 rear with 245/40 18 and 295/30 18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. That should be all you need for auto x. I wouldn't try to fit a 10 inch front wheel.

Think you can easily fit a 295/35/18 in the rear btw. Specs look fantastic on your current set up.

I am running 255/35/18 on a 18x10 45mm offset in the front. I would have gone 18x9.5 but the wheels I have do not have them in that width.
I am on coilovers lowered about 2.5in from stock with -1.9 camber on the fronts. I have about 4mm clearance. No rubbing at all.
That said, I'm not sure if this setup would fit on stock suspension due to how bulky the stock strut/coils are

Agreed. I have plenty of room for a 295/35/18. I had a 305/30 19 before and it also didn't rub with the car on H&R springs and B6s. The author has plenty of options, but not really with 1000 bucks as the budget. That doesn't even buy a set of tires. The easiest/cheapest thing would be to buy some used OZs in OEM or GT3 spec and just run them. They pop up pretty frequently as many people use them as track wheels.

I also wouldn't run Victor Equipment wheels:

Yep. A possible cheaper option that's very light and very durable may be to find a set of cheap Carrera 2 wheels (8x18,10x18) that aren't shiny and pretty, but solid and straight, and slap on a set of sticky 200w 235s and 295s. Bridgestone RE71RS or Yoko AO52 which are pretty sticky without warmup.

This will save the OP quite a bit of money so he can upgrade the suspension set-up including a set of aftermarket sway bars to get the car to rotate.

But that's the great thing about 996 ownership. You can try whatever you want on your car. We all love to see it.
