What is my 2002 996 C2 Worth with Blown Engine
#17
I was going to change out the rear view mirror but I re-installed the factory mirror yesterday. The wires hanging are for the Radar detector I had but someone stole out of my car and the additional wire is for connecting my cell phone to charge when I have it mounted under the mirror.

Thanks for perspective. I used to have an account here several years ago but forgot my login credentials and this is my 3rd Porsche, 911 SC, 911 Carrera Targa and this 996.
I will consider your suggestion however, my back issues really cause me problems getting in and out of the car. Maybe after surgery, it will be better.

I’ve had 3 Porsches, but only 2 911s. The first was an 88 Carrera Targa. That car was fun when I had only 1 out of the 21.1 gallons of gas left in the tank (120 lbs lighter in the front end!).
I completely agree with 996-CAB and Skip.
I would take it to a reputable shop and get an assessment. For every horror story of a blown engine, there are also engines that are just fine, and many of those don’t make it on these threads!

Just based on the description of the fail,,, You also may have had a small perfect storm, slow cranking can also be a
burnt engine Y cable to the starter, You may have lost charging and literally just ran the battery too low to fire it up..
It wont always turn on the dash lights..
