Default Hack for putting rear windows up in Cab w/top down

I may be the last person on earth to find this out, but just in case.... If you want the little rear windows up along with the front ones when the top is down, just press your finger in the hole where the latch fits on top of the windshield while pressing the rear window buttons. DUH! (Looks a lot "cooler" that way.) Someone please tell me they didn't know this before

Oh man, I didn't even think about that! I had to put the big ugly bar code sticker to get into my security gate on the passenger side window because the little window would not come up with the top down.

Boy do I feel smart. Thanks for the heads-up.

"I didn't know that", now, if I could just get a cheap "top-up-while-moving" solution I would be ecstatic! Four hundred bucks for the top up hack is a bit much......

BTW Don, why do you suppose Porsche designed the back windows that way?

Gretch check here:

It takes about 20 minutes.

You can buy a little clip that closes the micro switch. I'd be nervous having the back windows up at speed though. There must be a reason Porsche prevents this.

Cool. It's like things you never knew you wanted - until you saw it! Come to think of it, that's how I found out I wanted a Porsche, too. thanks.

cool hack, but why would you want to do this while moving? easy enough to do it while in the driveway or stopped at a light. i've never had the urge to drop the top while driving down the road i do like the idea of a one touch top down operation though.

No Don, no one has ever said that.......Grizley Adams maybe, even perhaps "Shreck", but not McQueen. Still, McQueen was the coolest guy that ever lived during my lifetime and one of very few remaining heros to me. So I honor the memory I have of him..........

If it offends anyone, I apologise and request that you put me on your "ignore poster" list.

G

Oh my god.. i'm gonna run downstairs to try it..

thanks don!

is there a safety reason why Porsche decided to have this feature in the first place? eg... could it harm the rear windows if u drive around with the top down and the rear windows up, and the front windows down??

i have seen alot of SAAB convertibles doing this.

hmm....

Great tip, Don.
Tried it, and it works on my 2001.

Should definitely help the wind buffetting on my kids in back...and hopefully we'll be keeping the top down a little bit more!

Don..... Don, so was my response..........Actually the other hero in my life is Winston Churchill, and I prolly look a lot mor like him than I do McQueen....

BTW, the "ignore poster" option is a new found feature on the board for me and I must say I am delighted with it......We have some "tedious folks" over on the 928 board.........whom I have found a solution for.

I'm gonna do the "speed sensor clip" this weekend, and the next time I put the top down I will try your trick. What happens when you go to put the top up, do the rear windows go down first?

Any of the four windows will still lower properly when the roof is off. Just can't raise the rears without sticking your finger in the hole.
