Default DIY fix for the pad under drivers floor mat?

I can't figure out what this thing is called and so can't seem to find a DIY solution to fixing it. Is there anything I can do t get this to reattach to the carpet or should I just cut off the rolled up part and be done with it?

OP - Unfortunately, this is part of the whole front carpet section, 996 551 011 02 EEW, with no a la carte solution. Take a blade and remove the entirely useless heel pads. One way you can repair this area is cut and glue black Kevlar cloth to both sides for a cost of about $20.

Thanks - that's what I figured - will look at Kevlar patch option too.
