Default Need Help Fixing a Dead Center LCD Screen

2003 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet

The center LCD on the instrument cluster is done - damn near maximum pixelation. Backlight to the cluster is dead. Everything else on the cluster works as it should.

Zero mechanical skills on my part - but I try from time to time.

What should I do -
1. Send the cluster out and have one of the vendors who do these types of repairs take care of it? I've asked for a couple of quotations and they are coming in around the $400 range. Some said they can't touch the backlight issue.
2. Buy a used one off of Ebay or salvage spots - they are clocking in $400 - $600. I think there are some after installation issues that I would have to contend with - mileage, computer, etc.
3. Buy just the center screen and have someone install it for me. I purchased one earlier but unfortunately it was the wrong one and the vendor told me the right one costs nearly $300

What do you recommend?

I'd encourage you to start off with a better title. "What should I do" tells people absolutely nothing about the thread and could mean a 1000 things. I only clicked on it out of curiosity but I don't have the answer. I think you should change the title to something like "Need help fixing a dead center LCD screen"
