EVO Supercharger

EVO Supercharger
I own a 1999 996 and a friend owns a 2000 996. We are both about to have an EVO supercharger installed by S*Car*Go Racing in San Rafael, CA. I currently have racing cats and headers and a larger intake thorttle body, all by S*Car*Go, but this work is offset by a large amount of audio/video equipment and the associated weight. We will both post the results to the forum within the next couple of weeks and should be able to give everyone a pretty good side by side comparison between the model year and throttle linkage dfferences.

COOL! Hey how much is this costing if you don't mind me asking? I'm in the Bay Area also and am thnking about SC'ing the car, I'd love to check your cars out when done.
And welcome to the board, I see it's your first post.

To be honest, the cost varies. We are getting a price based on 2 kits and frankly, this may be the first set that Scargo has installed. I think Rob (the owner) is going to install these kits and then determine what his final price will be based on how much labor it takes to put one in. We're kind of his "test" installations and I don't think he wants to price them until he knows for sure. The fact that he has not done one before is of no concern as they are such a top drawer shop.
And thank you for the welcome, it was indeed my first post and I managed to screw up the word "throttle" right out of the gate.

Cool, I guess when your car is done I'll give them a call for pricing. Still would like to check out your cars when they're done. Maybe get a ride in it to see what it feels like?

A ride would be my pleasure and of course, I'm excited to see what the difference is also. Should be interesting as, with the added weight I'm carrying, I'm not sure what this will be like. I bought the S/C based on the earlier board discussion which was all very positive.

test drove EVO SC car yesterday
Mike from EVOMS was kind enough to go for a spin with their famous SC-ed yellow 996.
OMG !
It goes as speeding bullet above 4000 rpm , drives just like my 996 below 4000 rpm.
Go for it, I will SC soon, ScarGO is very close to me.
Would like to see what your SC-ed looks like after you are finished..

You'll love the new acceleration
BTW, my guys at Intersport in Northern Va. took somewhere between 30-40 hrs as it was their first Evo Supercharger install however they charged me for considerably fewer hours.
Good luck!

I really don't mean to be so nebulous about pricing. Rob at Scargo specifically asked me not to put a price out there until he knew what his actual time on the job would be. I did not get a kit price from him per se, just a price for the overall job. In order to respect Rob's wishes, I'd rather not say what I am paying at this point, but it is somewhat comparable to taking the car to Arizona and having the work done there. From my standpoint, if there was a small premiumto pay for having the work done locally, I was fine with that, even though I'm sure they do excellent work in Arizona also. All of the work on my car is performed at Scargo (aside from audio) and I wanted to keep it that way. If you do have any inquires about the S/C and would like to ask Rob, feel free to email him at: rob@scargoracing.com. I am fairly new to the world of Porsche ownership and I would assume that members of this board, especially those from the bay area, would probably know of Scargo already. I am looking forward as much as anyone to driving the car with the S/C installed and will glady share my impressions as soon as it's complete. Also, as I mentioned previously, a friend with a 2000 996 is having a S/C installed at the same time as mine, so it will be an intersting comparison between the 2 different throttle linkages. I am not knowledgable enough to understand why the mechanical linkage theoretically adds more HP than the electronic, but we'll see!

Todd was estimating 480ish at the crank with the x51...hard to say for sure though. Todd has not to the best of my knowledge put an AWD on the dyno. Maybe he will pop into this thread...
