Default Thoughts retro Blaupunkt stereo

I’m thinking about hauling my stock stereo and doing a single din radio. BT Zane all that jazz. Didn’t want to do a double din because personal preference and looking more stock. Looking at blaupunkt radios cause are German and thought look cool. I don’t want a complicated radio and nine sun categories to adjust settings. Almost want a analog EG in lower tray. I know alpine Kenwood and pioneer be best bet. Or do I just leave alone. I’ve used search engine. No need to flame lol

I've been contemplating this, but the price is a bit steep for what it is:

Dont know anything aboit the bp radio but also check out Continental radios. They have a classic look too. I got mine from Bergvill FX. They have little stickers too that cover the continental logo with a porsche logo.

Aesthetically, I feel like the Continental with the orange backlit LCD, is a better match for models older than than the 996. The 996 has orange LED display (orange letters/numbers on black background), rather than backlit, and there are radios that allow changing the LED display color to match the orange 996 display.

I think Blaupunkt has always made some of the best looking radios, but I've been disappointed with the sound quality of them. I put a great-looking Blaupunkt in my old 1987 3.2 Carrera and it looked great, but didn't sound that great. I've never done an "apples & apples" of Blaupunkt with another head unit (changing nothing else) -- which would be a much better test, so don't take my word as gospel, but that's been my experience.

I put a Nakamichi in my 996 that looks great (color match orange LED), sounds pretty good, has Bluetooth built-in, but the mic isn't very good for voice calling -- I don't like it enough that I would recommend it.

I think it's possible to add Bluetooth to the stock Becker radio -- at least for music playback, not sure about voice calls. I probably would add Bluetooth to the Becker if I was going to do it again.

Mine is pretty good but it depends on what u do with the rest if the system. I feel all of the porsche stuff is garbage so i put all new speakers in and a kenwood amp that accepts high and low inputs. I believe the continental has only high level outputs.

The bluetooth is very clean, no noise.

I guess if I could have music play back from my stock wouldn’t be terrible.
I’m just not cool wt car looking way it does then a ultra bright color from stereo and contrast entire center stack.

The Bremen looks pretty good (found this on the web) -- the LED display fits very well, though the overall style of the radio/controls is a bit more "retro" than the 996 time period:

This is the Continental (good looking radio, overall styling is maybe closer to the period of the 996 than the Bermen, but the orange backlit LCD display looks out of place compared to all of the other "orange LED on black" displays in the 996).
