You need to:
1. dismantle radio
2. remove LCD screen holder, which is usually a thin metal bracket. this clamps the LCD and the polarizer to the circuit board. It may be soldered to the circuit board.
3. flip the polarizer over
4. reinstall the LCD screen holder
5. reassemble the radio
Google up "LCD polarizer flip" for some videos, not of this radio.

Old Blaupunkts were easy to operate and to my eyes look way better than modern radios.
An old model Blaupunkt had a Dolby switch that would make FM sound really sweet. Some FM stations had Dolby equipment in their broadcast system which are surely no longer active, so don't know if the Dolby button would improve the sound like it used to.

For those who have a CDR-23 and want the Bremen. I sent an inquiry to Crutchfield regarding what was needed, they said this harness is required:

The rep also said we’d need a specific mount to slide the radio in place. One nugget of advice I was given was we’d need to adjust the fade to the desired setting before pulling the CDR-23.

Just got my Conti and harness from Bergvil. Bough wrong harness because was unaware i have m490 option. My fault. Kinda sucks cause base harness is 18$ and 22$ shipping, the m490 is 88$ lol. Damn it

Regarding sound quality -- definitely replace the dash and rear speakers first -- the originals are low quality and not very robust -- chances are they will have some structural damage from dried out paper cones when you take them out. The original door woofers are actually very well made, so they are likely still in perfect shape and aren't that easy to improve on, so I think you are better off leaving them in there.
I didn't hear a huge difference with the head unit either. Dash/rear speakers will help and are an easy next step.

I did the speakers and head unit at the same time, so I really don't have a feeling about Becker versus Nakamichi. I don't know if it was better or worse, but it wasn't a big change in sound quality going from Becker to Nak.

That's the model I went with. Even though I have yet to play a single CD, I wanted the option to be able to.
I agree that replacing the speakers will make the biggest difference. For speakers I went with Focal that were almost $800.00 in 2018. If I had to do it over, I would go with something cheaper. I also think the Becker head unit has a little better sound than the Continental.
