Default C4S Stock Seat Swap - Corbeau RRX

Sharing this for anyone interested in just the look or the process with Corbeau seats in their 996.

Thought the black plaid centers would look good with the Seal Grey of the C4S - it really does IMO.

Installation was straight forward - no issues. Used Corbeau base and sliders. They are tight to the floor - no extra height added. Bases bolted right to the seat as per the instructions they provide - again - no issues. OEM bolt positions were true to the base. No fitment issues. The slider lever is somewhat snug to the carpet. But, I had no issues activating it or getting a positive click at the rear position.

Big & Tall Review - The thigh bolsters are a bit too aggressive for my 6'6" 300 lb frame. I'm almost on top of them and I think it is limiting my ability to get down into the seat properly (that's on me - not the seat - I could skip a few meals and this would be less of an issue). For anyone considering - if you have a 38" waist or less and under 225 lbs, you'd be quite happy with the seat, I think.

I'm exchanging these for the RRS seats (which do not come with the plaid option). They have less aggressive thigh bolsters, and look to be more in line to stock with a bit more support. The back bolsters were quite nice on the RRX seat - much better support than the stock comfort seats.

Thanks for sharing! Bummer the RRS doesn't come in plaid.

No problem with the airbag light? Did your stock seats have memory? I was wondering if you lose the reverse gear auto-tilt on the side mirror with the memory seats removed.

Any update on the RRS? The site has the RRX listed as fitting a 40" waist and the RRS fitting 38"

I just saw this post.
I'm tempted to get a set for my 996.2.
Since mine is mainly a street car, I'd like the capability to move the seat so I can put stuff behind it even though I have a roll bar that blocks where the rear seats used to be.
I also want the capability to adjust the recline for comfort on the street.
But these look like they would accommodate my harnesses that came with my roll bar that I haven't installed yet because I still have factory seats.
The only problem is where would I store my original Metropol Blue leather seats...I'd kinda hate to get rid of them.

Not from me. Ended up going with 997 2-way sport seats. Better bolsters. Slightly lower. Definitely a better seat.

Sorry for the zombie thread revival...

DId you ever consider the LG-1 wide version or talk to the folks at Corbeau about it? How are the 997 seats in comparison for you? Someone is selling a set of 987.1 Cayman S seats near me that look very similar to the 997 ones.

Anyways... just curious if you looked into the LG-1 seats as well. WIsh they made more of those with the Plaid center. I wonder if they could/would use it for another seat model.

For reference... I'm like 250-260 these days and have a 40ish inch waist.

I actually bought these seats based on this thread. I’m all but certain those LG1s won’t work.

The footwell tapers in around the seat belt attachment point. As it is, the narrower RRXs run into this and can’t go back as far as the stock seats. I took them off the seat sliders and pushed them back as far as they could go, and it was around a half inch more than when bolted in. They are lower, so you still have plenty of leg room, but it’s more spread out than straight back.

I was worried these weren’t going to be snug enough, as I’m 6’4”, but only 185lbs. With a 34” waist, I fit snug at the hips. They look amazing, and feel even better.
