Bill,
You are welcome to try my airbag controller as a test, same part number. It's out of my 02 Boxster track car which I sold.

If you open the door and look to where the wiring goes from the door to the body.....there is a big rubber grommet, inside behind that gommet is a big connector...it has to be disconnected when removing the door...You said the door was replaced at some point, they may not have seated the connector all the way..

You can access it by removing the drivers foot left kick panel, then the fuse box can be unbolted and moved out of the way to access the connector...

Thanks, Skip. I'll give that a go tomorrow.

I couldn't find the connector, just a big bundle of wires to the fuse box. I'm going to try another controller. Would a controller from an 02 Boxster work with my '00 C2?

The controller from the Boxster throws a host of different errors so I think it's not compatible. I know that brand new modules need to be "unlocked" by a dealer, but is that model/year-specific? I put back the one that came out of a 996 and the codes are gone (for now).

On the plus side, I can now swap out an airbag controller in under 5 minutes.
