Hi all! I just purchased my first Porsche, a 2003 996.2 C2 Tiptronic. The car is in great condition and has only 41k miles but the IMS is not done on it yet. I am planning to have it done this year along with RMS & Engine mounts and i’m looking for recommendations on shops that specialize in replacing the IMS that are close to me.
Has anyone used Rennsport in Hackensack? I’m located in Bergen County (Hackensack). Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.
I recently did the IMS on my '01 C2 coupe and was charged cost for the IMS Solution parts $1899 and then labor. I don't know how much labor for just that was, because I had the clutch, flywheel, and RMS replaced as well. Their labor is $145/hour. I used Total Performance Center in Parsippany NJ, and they were very professional and all work order and authorization can be done online.
I would try Powertech in Rockaway. They've got the best rep as far as Porsche-only places up here.
If they ever return your calls. They were one of three places I called when trying to get estimates for replacement of the IMS. Took my name, number, and car info and never called back. I even called two days later to see if estimate was done, and "someone was working on it." Total Performance Center in Parsippany was responsive the whole time, went with them, and more than satisfied.

There shouldn’t be additional labor for the flywheel, and only minimal for the clutch.
The RMS shouldn’t add too much labor either…maybe 1/2 hour.
