Default Flywheel, Refinish or replace

Getting ready to replace the clutch, but have been reluctant to replace the flywheel. We have a good machine shop local to me, and I have had a few truck flywheels done there. Good quality work.
So my question is, assuming there are no major defects found after disassembly, any reason not to re-surface a 996 flywheel?

Replace, almost 20 years old. 20 year old rubber in the DMFW is probably toast!

Good point, will replace.
I've looked into stock type replacements, LUK brand seems pretty common. Any reason not to consider this brand? car will spend the rest of it's life on the street as a "touring car" so no need a racing clutch setup.

I don't think machining a dual mass flywheel is a viable option. Machining is a messy business and a dual mass flywheel has internal parts. Plus the dual mass bits wear over time.

Replace. When I first got my car I thought it could be resurfaced too but there is more at play here. Pun intended. The springs in the flywheel will wear out and I don't think they can be replaced and allow for too much play. I got a LUK unit and have been happy.

I also replaced mine 2 years ago (90k miles) with a LUK. I knew at the time, but I don't 100% remember now, but LUK may be the OEM flywheels. (?)

Thanks everyone, I had not considered the wear the DMFW can see, and now that I'm thinking about it, replacing is a no brainer.
Ordered one last night.

I replaced my flywheel in December with a LUK. The factory flywheel was also a LUK. I had 31K original miles, and the flywheel and clutch components showed very little wear. Nevertheless, I replaced everything while doing my IMSB. I paid $900 delivered for a LUK flywheel, Sachs clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing from Rock Auto.
