After having a lengthy discussion with my local indy about the speed yellow 996.2, they said it was well worth a PPI and could be great car.
To me it was important to get a local car from a private seller…one that I could drive, inspect, and get a good sense of the car’s story. Otherwise I’d be buying a car somewhat blind, and while I’ve done that before, it wasn’t on a 996.
I had the seller reinstall the OEM cats as well as the air intake to get back to stock ahead of the PPI.
The PPI was uneventful…below is what they found:
02 sensor error code post cat - they fixed that today
Oil change - completed today
cabin air filter - changed it with OEM
dirty drains around battery - cleaned those
headlamp switch is finicky
passenger window regulator doesn’t drop the window down 1” when you open the door
needs front tires soon and alignment
driver side sunvisor cover broken
cup holder face cracked
there is slight coolant smell in the cabin, but no leaks found, so heater core could be going
brakes at 50%
fluids clean and not recommended to change
I don’t remember the numbers, but only 2 stage 2 overrevs, no concerns
No leaks, no smoke, no knocks, ticks, clean oil filter.
Overall it’s better than what I expected, and I look forward to improving the car.
I stripped the plastidip off the wheels, and sure enough, there were a darn near pristine set underneath…looks so much better.
Clay bar and wax today as well as conditioned all plastic trim, leather, and interior. Overall the paint is really nice, not perfect, but fine enough for me.
No real plans but to enjoy it now and slowly take care of things that it needs.
I’m loving the car, it’s so much fun to drive, and I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to pull the trigger. Glad I finally got in the game.
Appreciate the insight as well knowledge base on here!
