Default 996 heater always on at startup

I have a 2001 996, whenever I start it, the heat is on even if it was shutoff when I shut engine off. Is this normal or can I do something to fix it?

Dunno if its normal but my HVAC comes on when I start as well, even if it was off prior.

Same here with my 99' Cab, suspect it's Porsche's clumsy attempt at "climate control".

Default same noise here not sure it is HVAC

I hear same noise, particularly passenger side dash area, at start up even when climate control is completely turned off. I'm not sure it is HVAC fan related. Aren't the radiators up front and perhaps a fan in front of them?

On both my original 2000 hvac controler and the 2004 one in the car now it stays in the same mode i left it in when i turned off the car. I generally do not leave the car in the "auto" mode.

Press the minus button on the fan speed control all the way down so no bars show. That will turn your HVAC off completely. If the HVAC fan was running when you shut the car off it will start up as soon as you start the car and attempt to maintain whatever temperature the temp control was set at previously.

On my 2000 it is always on when you start it up even if you turned it off before you turned off the engine. I have ahd the car for over 21 years and it has always been this way.

didn't work, shut off fan completely, stopped engine, on startup, hack back on, tried it several times and each time, hvac was on at startup.
I guess that's what porsche wanted, now question is why.

Yep, that's how it works. Always on upon starting regardless of where it was when the engine was turned off.

Not my 02 either. When the fan is turned off I get an "OFF" in the HVAC LCD where the temp setting is displayed. Next time the car is started everything is still off.
