Default Back in a 996 after 14 years!

After a 14 year hiatus, I'm happy to be back to the brand with my acquisition of a new-to-me 2003 996 C4S. This is my 5th P-car and I am so happy to be back in the seat after such a long break. Shout out to Ryan Friedman Motorcars in NY for a great remote buying experience. The car has approx. 56K miles and is in showroom condition. It's truly amazing that an 18 year old car can still look and feel so good. I was over the moon happy to take delivery yesterday and take it for it's first of many rides. Excited to be back. Thanks to everyone who provided insight along the way! I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future.

The right color for a C4S. Congrats.

I own a 54k mile twin. What color is your interior? Metropol blue or black? Mine only had 22k miles 2 years ago, but its so fun to drive i keep racking up the miles. Hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I do from mine.

Congratulations! And, welcome back.

I wouldn't change anything about the look of this car. I don't care what people say, but the artic silver met. is the perfect Porsche paint color.

On another note, you might look into installing some fresh engine mounts. It appears your tailpipes are drooping. Anyway, happy motoring!

im in the same boat, just picked up a 996 a month ago and realized I needed new motor mounts. Rein mounts are going in within the next few weeks!

That's what it seems. I was surprised that most people seem to jack from the oil pan instead of jacking from the rear engine carrier. Any downside to jacking from the engine carrier?

I suggest jacking the car at the proper jack points and then supporting the engine separately when you begin lowering the engine to remove the engine mounts. I don't recommend jacking up the rear of a Porsche using the engine. Just my 2 cents.

But doesn't the engine hang, so technically you raise it? Wondering if I need to even jack this thing up, seems like I can drive up on a 2x4 and have enough clearance to get at the M12 nut under there.
