Default Help with cooling part ID

Can anyone tell me what this part is so I can order a new one? I believe this is the source of my coolant leak. You can see the corrosion. It is part of the cooling system for a 2000 996 with Tiptronic. The shop provided the photo and called it the 'coolant shut-off valve', but a prior shop just called it a 'coolant fitting'. I provided a photo below of the 'coolant shut-off valve' from Pelican Parts and as you can see that is a different part, although I believe they are nearby (under the center of the car) so perhaps that was where the mistake came from. Either way, I don't have time right now to jack the car up and figure it out for myself so I thought I'd cheat by seeing if someone else might already know and be willing to clue me in? If so, a part number would be awesome. There are so many brackets and other parts in the diagram that it's just hard to figure it out without having the number before hand! Thanks for your help!

This is the coolant shut-off valve so I don't think it is the same thing.

Wow! You are quick and, I believe - accurate! It took a minute to figure the orientation but I do think that looks like it. I also just now read about that part and it lists my symptoms (leaking coolant, overheating). So I really want to thank you for the quick work!
I haven't yet looked for DIY guides to replacing but I'm sure they are out there so I won't bother asking that yet. But if anyone cares to chime in on that I wouldn't mind! Thanks again!

Default Installation Help

OK well now I have searched for info on installing this piece on a 996 and have come up empty. Several threads on the 944 and others but I'm not even sure of the location on a 996. So anyone with previous history of installing a Heater Control Valve on a 996 with Tip I'd love to hear from you! I ordered the part and now have a week to figure it out before the part arrives and I have to install it! Thanks again.

The location is down on the transmission - under the car. The valve controls flow thru the tiptronic transmission cooler.

Just roll up your sleeves and get the hand soap ready....some things don't require directions, and if you clamp off the coolant lines on both sides of the valve, you will not have to drain and refill the coolant system..

No need for more photos but I appreciate your willingness to provide. I now know where and what it is - I just have to get to it! I presume it can be changed out without having to pull the engine again. I just had it out. Sure would have been easier to do it then!

Looks like I need to replace that valve - can someone give the location of that so that I don't have to remove all the bottom covers - if possible.
