Oiling system is not an issue on a street driven 996 and this start up wear is so insignificant that it's hardly worth motioning. At the end it's basically an internet myth. A 996 with over 300K miles is worth so little that the current owners will not put up the money for the maintenance of the rest of the car so engine condition will not matter much. Yes, if you dig around the internet you will find a handful of owners in the world that will do keep their 996 going that long but that's a very small number. My '99 has over 200K when I bought it over 7 years ago and the engine was never opened. There was no visible wear in the bores when I pulled to heads because the exhaust valves bent by the previous owner, that doesn't mean the more is not tapered, but there was no ridge at the top that one would expect from a severely worn engine.

Wow, I didn’t know that. I thought nearly ALL ICE suffered from the startup wear, and Porsche would not be any different. I’m surprised and skeptical though still. Are we sure about this?
