996 idle off gas pedal issues
I,m new to the 996 world and having taken the plunge on getting one. I'm having an issue with my idle which I think is pointing towards an over vacuum situation.
Having done some extensive rebuild work (engine out), I have replaced the AOS as I was advised it was good practice with engine out so as its new I don't think that's the issue (even though it can't be completely ruled out).
Whats happening is that on start up I need to give it a little gas to maintain idle. Once its warmed a little it appears to idle fine, however if I give it sone rev,s and take the foot off, it drops just below idle and usually cuts out. If I take my foot off very gently, idle is maintained.
I,m think towards a very slight over vacuum as I would say it idles slighty better (when warm) with the oil cap off.
It will sit at idle fine if left alone once warmed a bit.
I did also notice that the intake flap sits practically closed at idle and wondered if that's natural.
Any pointers woukd be appreciated.
Thanks
Simon
most likely u need to smoke test the intake and find your leak. Also there is a icv, idle control valve, that may need to be cleaned or replaced.
