Rear deck lid repair/repaint

Rear deck lid repair/repaint
Hi all
My 03 Cab (black, non-metallic) has factory Carrera Fixed Spoiler. Although there’s great advice out there about living with it for a while to see if it grows on you (it has) and ensuring you hold onto it for resale (I will) I want to find an auto-deploy spoiler “stock” rear deck lid.
My search has been hit or miss with either lightly damaged, wrong color or a ludicrous price. So my question: Has anyone repaired or repainted rear deck lids and could share what to expect cost wise?
I just want to end up with something that looks decent and am open to buying a blemished one if the repair costs aren’t too crazy, but my searches haven’t turned up good info on how much I might need to plan for a repair or repaint on one I find.
Thanks in advance if anyone has experience (or one you might want to sell at a reasonable price).

Black is the easiest paint to match so don't worry about that. Just get a good used one and have it painted before installing it.

Got a few offers of decklids that would require repair or repaint. I hit up the store here in Portland that is recommended numerous times on this site and they quoted $925, which seems insane for the actual size/scope of the project, but I suppose that's why I was asking here originally is I just don't have a good sense of costs for this kind of thing.

Buy a spray gun if you have a compressor, go to auto paint store with paint code. Tell them what you are doing and ask them what to do and what you need. It’s not difficult, just go light coats.

I'm sure they do a great job and the local P dealer uses them....but still pricey.

I have a stock engine cover that I took off my '99 a couple of years ago when I installed a fixed spoiler. It's in excellent shape just sitting on a shelf in my garage.
Let me know if you're interested.

The cost of the materials alone is probably approximately $200 for primer, PPG paint, clear coat, sandpaper and etc. To paint it correctly, it’s at least a 3-4 hour job to seal, prime, paint, clear coat, sand and buff. The spoiler takes time to paint and buff correctly, especially the louvers.

I found a silver deck lid on eBay for $300. Simple plug and play.
I suspect black shouldn’t be anymore difficult to find. They don’t get rock chips and generally are damaged free. Maybe faded a bit if from Arizona or Florida.
I’d expect around $500 to repaint/color change professionally.

I spent 900.00 labor and materials to match GT Silver 996.2 aero wing and deck lid.
Painter was really good. Gave him my gas cap lid. He sprayed and mixed serval times to get it perfect.
High end hotrod shop did the job.
Super happy with the result.

Appreciate those who weighed in with the costs + work examples. It's an invaluable part of this forum when you (I) just have no experience with that kind of work, it can be really hard to know if you're in the right realm. Also appreciate those who've got parts they've offered - I've also seen them on eBay with a variety of Porsche parts stores, but knowing the level of obsession with owners here, would feel great about buying from you guys vs. those guys.
