I agree that the sub-$200 part that requires $1,500 of labor needs to be more than 99.99% reliable for 20,000+ miles. Money back for the defective part won’t cover the cost of labor, or replace the down time, or compensate the owner for the lost peace of mind. My Porsche boxed AOS p.o.s. (whoever makes OE now) lasted less than 500 miles. For a 996 owner, that is a huge dealbreaker and giant buzz kill. Almost as bad as a 500 mile water pump.

I just sold my boxster the AOS went out when the new owner was driving it home so I gave his money back and had it towed home
the very next day the AOS went out in the 996 the Boxster took a half hour to fix the 996 took like 10hrs both times and now I have
to do it one more time with Skip's UAOS so yeah the warranty on a part like this is useless the 3rd time it fails cause who in their right mind would
use the same brand part.
