Transmission Failure
I was driving my 2007 4S with 43K miles and there was a loud bang from the rear of the car. I took the car to the dealer and they said there was an internal transmission failure and said the don't work on transmissions and offered to replace it for $25K. Has anyone experienced this issue? I have reached out to my local Porsche mechanic and he is getting back to me with a quote to rebuild it.

Talk yo Gbox in Colorado, they seem to be their experts on these gearboxes, at least the Manuals. They rebuilt my C4 box a few years ago when the pinion bearing started making noise.
it would be nice to more about what happened to the transmission to better understand what work needs to be done. $25K is kind of crazy there are lots of used gearboxes available
