Default Shifter Boot Replacement *Help*

Hello,
I'm looking to replace the leather shifter boot on my 03 C4S and wanted to see if there are any instructions or "how to's" out there on doing that? I have this model:

Anyone done this or know of a tutorial? Thanks!

Use interior tools to pry up edge of boot.
Then remove the bolt on the shift ****.
Pull straight up.
The shifter boot is attached to the shift **** with a zip tie.
If you have the aluminum trim, you'll have to gently remove it and use glue to stick it to your new shifter boot.
The black plastic piece inside holds the shifter boot with tabs.

Thanks for the help! I have the aluminum trim. Any tricks to removing that, or just being really careful?

It really just comes off by prying up on it. If you can't get it out with your fingers you can use a screwdriver to pry it up. Just be careful since the console itself scratches easily. Maybe wrap the tip in painters tape before using a screwdriver.

I used these Guy's to order a new shift boot, they have a tutorial online also doing your boot. I believe they are overseas in Poland great product just took longer to get.

Update... I went to do this work and found a few things. The leather used for the shifter boot I have is very thin. My guess is that's because it has to fit between the aluminum trim and the plastic base that the leather is glued to. Also, the aluminum trim (actually plastic) is riveted to the plastic base, so removing it would mean that I would have to find a new way to connect it once I put the new leather on. So... the leather boot I purchased won't work for what I need since it wont fit (too thick) and seems to also be shaped differently. Thankfully I didn't get too far in then process before I discovered this so I just put everything back. An old boot is better than no boot.

Here's the difference in the two styles of boots. Mine has the aluminum (colored) trim.

Without trim:

Lower red type shift ***** slips straight down into boot, Yes, its very thin , but with enough work, if your replacement is thick as normal leather "samples" yeah, its not going to fit, but thin leather shouldn't be an issue.

The removal of aluminum look trim is attached to a plastic base, same for both models of this shifter boot, The trim pokes through holes in leather boot and melted on backside to hold to base . Aluminum trim is very tricky to remove, Don't force it because its a plastic covered in metal based trim (Copper/Nickel) . To remove from console, both models pry up from lower rounded part of boot. The front has clips which hold boot in front part of console..
The round shaped Shift pattern is held w Setscrew, to shifter, The Red version is just pulled off straight up , remove boot from console edge first. , Lot of force for first time.

Let me know if you need pics

Mike

Anyone have any luck replacing boot with aluminum trim? Here are some pics of what it looks like. Seems like aluminum trim is melted into base.
