Hey everyone, what high back booster car seat options fit well in the rear of the 996? I just bought a 996 Turbo and my daughter wants to go for rides. She is 5 and 42lbs.
I have some sort of Eddie Bauer booster seat for my 3YO and the Cosco mentioned above for my 5YO. I looked around but can’t find the EB seat available anymore. I tried removing the 911 seat back for the EB seat to slide back all the way, but it was too wide so I put it back in. I also had to cut the rear deck carpet to access the tether point but it’s back there. I have used the Cosco with my son since he turned 4 and never had an issue with it; he seems comfortable enough and the seating position is completely safe for his age and weight. I already have a second one ready to go for when my daughter turns 4 and is legally old enough to use it. That being said, we take my wife’s minivan for anything other than short joyrides if the kids are going.
Good luck, and please post back here if you find something good. Threads like this pop up occasionally as car seat availability changes over time.
It depends. From a safety standpoint, each kid’s height and weight are more important than age itself. In terms of age, each state has its own laws as to when booster seats are allowed.
@amusselw is correct. Booster seats are really just about positioning the seatbelt across the child’s body properly. High back boosters bring the seat up but also bring the shoulder belt down so it crosses the collar bone, not the neck.
Because the shoulder belts are already low in the back of a 996 it doesn’t take much of a boost to get the child in the right position. Try the Cosco and see if it puts your daughter in a position where the shoulder belt is off her neck. You can use the included belt positioning strap too, but I don’t think you’ll need it.
And at this price, you really don’t have much to lose if it doesn’t work out.

We mounted a slightly longer seat belt receptacle from Amazon and dropped in a regular car seat. It's a little wide but it just fits. My 6-yr-old daughter and little buddy like riding there. Would fit better in a coupay because doesn't have roll over bars behind seat.

@996.2 Do you happen to know the make/model of the pictured car seat? I’m currently trying for figure out a car seat for my Cab and struck out on my first booster and car seat attempts today because they’re too wide.
Thank you both for posting, so now I'm confused the booster appears to be able to work for her and there is the last option but that seems seems so big back there. It's not like the 996 rear seats are big I cant believe a highback fits back there!
Well, I can confirm that these seats didn't work in the back of my Cab (all too wide):
Graco Tranzitions 3 in 1 Harness Booster Seat
Cosco Finale DX 2 in 1 Combination Booster
Evenflo Maestro Sport Harness Booster
I was hoping to use a seat with a harness for our almost-5yr old, but as of now the solution is a Clek Oobr High Back Booster used with the seat belt.
