Could the factory/dealer provide history of an engine using the code?

To put it simply...No. Porsche never kept track of the engine numbers, except for a range of engine numbers, year of production and type of car. If a car was serviced at a dealer, likely they do not have records for an individual engine number, just VIN maybe.

 

My dealer was able to give me a service report on my car going back a few years, and was able to tell my that the engine I have was not original to may car, and that another used engine was put in.

 

Based on your other thread, you have a factory replacement motor. Does it have an AT in the serial #?
