Default White Wax Residue

Hello All,
I waxed the car the other day (a bizarre spring here in DC, weatherwise), using Mequirs wax. Everything looked fine, no wax left of the car. Ever since, I seem to get bizzare white specs and streaks, which buff off but it is a real pain. They return.

Anyone ever heard of this condition? It is like eczema of the Porsche. Thanks, Ed

yeah - next time switch one of the brands that don't leave that white residue. I use victoria yellow wax

but there are many others that you can read about in many other threads. I think zymol and souvereign products get good reviews from some.

Did you polish first? Because sometimes if you leave a little polish on by mistake and then wax over it, you'll have problems.

i have yet to wax my car since it is so new, but i know when i towel dry it it has a waxy white residue if i rub the towel instead of blot it off, must have something to do with how it comes from the factory

Sometimes fabric softeners left on the towels will leave a residue.

May have waxed over an older cheaper wax. Did you use M 26 yellow? The fabric softener is correct also.

no polish - not sure what the previous wax was (my first waxing). I suppose the solution is to wash with Dawn, then try again?

Yes, the old dish soap trick works great. Just make sure to follow with polish AND wax. The polish prepares the paint and then the wax protects it.

Maguirs #7 glaze and #26 yellow wax is good. Also Zymol, not the blue stuff from Walmart. The actual Zymol advertised in car entusiasts magazines.
