Default 1999 996 track car - roller

Considering selling this as a roller. Oil pressure has dropped below minimum spec and non ferous material found in the oil pan. Appears to be tin - possible bearing material. Not sure of exact engine status. Likely will need some type of rebuild, but we haven't taken it out of the car yet to dig into it. Engine was built by Charles Navarro for his personal car, but sold to previous owner. Specs are below from the seller I bought it from last year. It's a really nice build for the track. Has tag, title, working windows, door panels, and sunroof. I would rebuild or replace with used motor now, but have too much on my plate right now to deal with it. I've seen rollers for non track cars, anyone have a ballpark on something like this?

my guess is 10k but you could do better by parting it out as those bits are expensive. good luck.

I would say 15k. It runs and has tons of expensive parts on it. Might take a while to sell. Someone looking to build a similar car is going to spend 40k+ anyways. This would be a better option plus you get the engine you want new, built by who you want it built by.

so a new engine build by Charles for Charles crapped out after 7k miles?
again reading the post you have a lot of value in used bits there. I have sold track cars before and they are hard to sell and nobody wants one that requires major work. It will take years to sell to someone who is going to finish the engine...maybe if they have one sitting around. I hope I am wrong and good luck.

4 months ago $10K would have been a great listing price.
With everything on the car, spending $9-10K would have saved the buyer a LOT of cash.
Right now, I don't think you'll get many bites at all at any price.
If you can afford to sit on it for up to a year, I think you'll be able to sell it and get close to $10K.
Right now you'd be lucky to sell it for $4-5K.
Holding onto it, if you can, might be the best "investment" at the moment.
I briefly thought about making you an offer, but financial uncertainty is causing me to stop spending on anything unnecessary for now.

Be safe everyone. Ultimate buyer’s market is upon us. 2020 prices will be an anomaly when we look back in the near future. I work on the stock exchange floor and am about to voluntarily stop working so as to not infect my wife who is immune compromised. How long i’m out is anyone’s guess.

I hope gas stays plentiful and cheap so i can drive my frustrations away.

Good luck!
Gas will remain cheap for a while.
I'm in the oil and gas industry, so believe me, I wish it wouldn't.
Social distancing sounds like the perfect excuse to drive more!

And It runs with a serious issue, this adds no value to the equation...It's a roller (or soon to be) plain and simple!
