Default 996 Cab RTS

I've got the factory RTS (Roof Transport System) system for a 996 Cab with 2 Thule bike racks. I've been toying with the idea of selling it since it doesn't fit my 997 (which I was told it does. It doesn't. The mounting holes are there for it. At least for a 997.2). I don't see a lot of these posted for sell or even a lot of info on them. Is this something that is rare? Its really cool and I wish I could use it. But didn't know if this was something that people would be interested in.

Do you need to drill any holes to mount it? If not how does it mount to the car? Do you have pictures or a manual or a brochure?

No drilling. Its actually really clever. If you look at your A-pillar, under the seal you will find two plugs. remove the plugs and it will be threaded holes. That's what the bracket mounts to. Back bracket mounts in a similar fashion, but near the clamshell. Installed it looks almost like a roll cage. You can mount bikes, ski, surfboards, etc up there.

I don't know about the 997.1, but I can confirm that my 997.2 doesn't have the mounting locations. Which is a shame, because it really is a cool system. This was a factory option for the 996's.

Just a quick FYI to those looking at these. Sadly the RTS does not fit a C4S Cab. I was looking at this kit a couple of years ago and that's what I found out. IIRC it is that the A-pillars aren't set up for it. GLWS!

I’m in the market for an RTS for my 996.2 Turbo Cab. Any chance this one is still available? @michaelmoo22

Thanks for the heads up! Guess I’ll have to stick with the folding bike in the backseats

Hello, I just bought a 1999 996 cab C4. I am a big skier and am interested in the RTS you have. I think this thread is old, but if you or anyone you know has one, I would be interested in buying it to use. Thank you
