I would say if your lucky and the bores have survived, your looking at a crank , pistons and bearings, plus a full clean , interested to see what your route cause might be? Hope you can get it right , keep going on
Definitely crank and bearings, probably one rod. Pistons look good except for the skirt coating (curious what LN recommends on that). Bores and rings all look good too. Still trying to figure out why that journal wasn't getting oil.

Man, so sorry for the gut punch. I had my fingers crossed for something less serious.

WOW, that bearing looks bad.
How long did the engine run before you realized there was a problem?
I have some used spare stock rods for a 3.4L if you need them.
PM sent.

Oops, I just noticed you don't have stock rods.

Pretty gnarly photos, my sympathies. I hope you find the cause.
All the best

Hey Yazz
You might be able to get the skirts re coated, my pistons have the sprayed iron coating ( re used standard due to cost) but I had them don't with a Teflon coating , just a couple of thou thickness, a company in Uk called Camcoat , they do stuff for f1 and MotoGP but there will be companies over your way, maybe find out exactly what the coating is and send them to a specialist, just get them re done , if the metal underneath looks good , maybe measure them for wear and allow for the coating thickness . Also maybe check the carrier for blockage , the crank is the first things to get oil so that should narrow it down, the main journals get the pressure then it runs through the crank to the big ends , just bad luck mate , I'll see if anyone has a crank over this side of the pond, keep going!

Man oh man! I hope you at least find the reason what caused all this.

I wonder what caused what.
I see a chip on #7 main, which if I'm not mistaken feeds #6 rod bearing. #6 main looks deformed from heat that could have been from #6 rod bearing.
Or #6 rod bearing failed first and caused main bearing around it to overheat.
I find it hard to believe that debris from polishing would block anything. We are taking microns for stuff they take off. But who knows, something else could have gotten into the passage.

Engine was running for a few seconds before I shut it down and coasted off the highway. The indy that I initially towed it to started it up before I got there, and not sure how long he had it running.

Crank and carrier passageways are clear. Maybe any debris that was there could have shed after the bearing disintegrated. Oil cooler was new so can't imagine that factoring in. Splash valve on that main seems to be functioning properly.

So sorry to hear, Yaz. You seemed very thorough in your assessment and build, so I'm shocked to see this.

Just throwing some ideas out there. I haven't read through your thread yet, so sorry if I mention something already listed.

Is all the damage confined to the bottom end?

Is it the original oil pickup tube?
