Unhappy Okay so I had to buy a new remote.

If you remember my last post about my remote head... I replaced the battery, fixed the broken solder joint for the switch and the remote still wouldn't work.

So after a month of having to use the key I got fed up and decided to just go to the dealer and see just how far they were going to bend me over to buy a new remote head and code it to my car.

I walked into the parts dept and told the guy what I needed and asked how much it would be. He looked it up and told me it's $180 just for the head and then another $50 to code it to my car. YGBFKM?! Grrr....

So after my PCA discount was applied, I walked out the door with a bill for $217 but at least I now have a new remote head that works.

Just wondering,.....is it still working fine? I'm thinking of doing the same.

Suncoast sells a GT key head for $129 - sounds like it would replace a 996 head (but would still need to be programmed). (No affiliation, etc.)

I have a MY2000, without the front hood release. I wonder if this will work with my parts. It looks great!
