Default Repair or Replace?

Here are some photos (3) of passenger rear tire well of 03 4s and one of same location on driver’s side. Can this damage be fixed with gorilla glue or other bonding agent or best to replace? When pushed with finger it seals well, giving me hope it can be glued.

thanks.

I'd try glue first, nothing to lose if it doesn't hold.
Rock thrown up by tire?

thanks. It’s been there since i bought the car 10 months and 11k miles ago, just never got around to caring about it til now. It’s the front of the rear well, so not sure the cause.

No glue will hold that if you don't reinforce from behind. Plastic weld, maybe. Stitch with zip ties will work.

replace would be my choice.

Try plastic weld with reinforcement first. Less bucks. If it doesn't hold or look good you may be able to find that piece at a salvage place. But, can you remove just that piece from the whole section?

I repaired mine with epoxy and nylon webbing re-enforcement last year. Then painted them. So far so good.

It appears to be a solid piece with a rip near the edge. When pressed from rear it moves forward and fits perfectly. I will try to bond it somehow and put something between tire and the spot to hold it while it sets. worse case i replace both sides with new satin black sills.

And jeez this thread is depressing. 996 bargain basement prices mean it's bargain basement upkeep I guess.

Not sureexactly what you mean by that ^^ Not bargain basement upkeep by any means. This why why so many of theses cars are under maintained (buy 'em cheap, drive 'em till they start to break and then sell'em...). Price of purchase is a poor indicator of "price of ownership"... In the words of a wise man... "The cheapest Porsche you can buy will be the most expensive Porsche you own"...

I agree. Also, the part that Dr_Strangelove linked to is for the front wheel arch. You need part #996.504.364.00, $136.23 from Sonnen (or $193.00 from Auto Atlanta ).

That part should be removed at least every other year and cleaned behind it anyway ,, its a cause of 1/4 panel rust..
