Replacing shifter bushings

Replacing shifter bushings
The aftermarket short shifter installed in my car by the previous owner has quite a bit of play in the bushings, and I’d like to tighten it up.
I found these machines bushings from Phoenix Engineering and I’m thinking about swapping them in. https://phenixengineering.com/shop/p...t-bushing-kit/
My question: can I swap the bushings without removing the shifter frame and disconnecting the cables? The existing bushings are just held on with C clips and it looks like I can get at them with the boot removed.

Might be hard for others to answer unless they have that same shifter. It is definitely aftermarket.

After market or not, is the shifter under tension from the cables when it’s in neutral? I want to know if pieces are going to go flying if I pull the bushing out. It looks safe, but I’ve never messed with a shifter before.

No, they are not under tension from the shifter cables while in neutral.

If it helps at all, removing the center console isn't too bad. I can take it out in under 10 minutes now (I've done it a lot!). The first time is harder, since you won't know where all the fasteners are. There is helpful info both here in posts and on the pelican site (https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart..._Shift_Kit.htm).
