Default Bleeding coolant

I added coolant, got up to 2.5 k. Did the 30 second 5k blips. Just drove around town with relief valve open at 2.5k hitting 5k every so often. Coolant dropped but not much.
Should I have the cabin temp turned on? I don’t think so but watched a video this morning and the guy had the temp so it showed hi but the fan was set at its lowest level. He was doing a 986 and mines a 996 do I think the same procedure. It 40 F here today, the car got up to operating temp and stayed there. Don’t think the fans ever turned on though. Suggestions and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
Thanks.

I always turn on the heater, just good practice and ensures no random air pockets.

Worth having a vacuum refill tool if you work on your 996 regularly

Tool is a great idea but I hope to never do this again.
So it sounds like I should turn the heat on?

Like he said, coolant is always circulating through the heater core. Turning on the heat does nothing.
