I was very happy that such a site exists and I can check it and they will choose the best delivery!
I had an experience with auto shipping 3 years ago. I went to a very reputable shipping outfit to ship my car from FL to RI. I made the deal with them, and never gave it a second thought. Well, when my car didn't show up after a week I called the shipper who told me they didn't have a truck going that route so they subcontracted with Dowecheatem and How to deliver my car. The second company then parked my car in their lot, and drove it around to the tune of 50 miles until they had enough cars headed my way to justify loading a truck. Well, long story short, the car showed up finally 28 days later after the original reputable company rescued the car and found another reliable company to deliver it.
Point is, this is a strange industry and what appears to be is not reality. There are some large, reputable shippers who own their own trucks and will commit to deliver a car when they have enough cars going your way. But they will safeguard your car. But the industry is composed of many, many small or independent truckers who don't advertise but instead live off these "brokers" on the web who sit home and do all their work on their laptop through their web pages. These guys then pay the independent truckers to deliver the cars. These 1 truck owners then sit on your car until they have enough cars along a route that includes your destination. Also the larger companies who own their own trucks have regular routes they run, and they don't like to deviate. Just think about the economics of owning and running one of these large car carriers. You don't turn a wheel until you have a full truck and are able to plot a profitable route.
My advice is be very, very careful with whom you trust your expensive car. Be sure you know whether they are actual trucking companies with a solid reputation and own their own trucks, and control their own routes.

I have used Montway Auto Transport this past summer to bring my parents' MBZ CLK430 from San Jose CA to Albany NY in about 5 days door-to-door. This X-country shipping wasn't cheap but everything went very smoothly with good & constant communications with the driver, very happy with the experience. The car arrived without any issues. Good-luck! Cheers,

One call and done

Tell her Mike sent you. She has shipped over 400 cars for me and my friends in the last 5 years and the relationship started with one e30 M3 amd spread all over the country in the m3 community. She has easily helped facilitate the most e30 m3’s moved across the country.

my advice, please please please always ship enclosed. It’s a different level of service. One you will benefit from trust me.

you’re welcome.

My 996 Turbo was just delivered today from Virginia to Punta Gorda Florida. I used Montway Transport. The service was professional, pickup and delivery on time. Price for enclosed transportation was only a few hundred more than I was quoted last month (when I thought the car would would be ready)
Driver was extremely polite and went out of his way to get it to my house.

FYI The price was only a few hundred more than open trailer. (Probably due to all the snowbirds shipping back north now)

I had mine shipped from NYC to MA (a one day trip) and it was a nightmare. The car was "lost" for days on an open trailer. Turned out the carrier had a broken axle and then ran into issues because of a state inspection in CT. Spend the extra $$ and do it right.

don’t ever ship a car you care about with an open shipper.

usually their equipment is bad and almost always their drivers are used to shipping ****ty dailies. Enclosed guys are more professional and used to hi, higher end cars.

Al stereotypes of course and based on a lot of experience

Just FYI, InterCity Lines is not a sub contractor. They are the real deal and have their own dedicated fleet like Reliable, Horseless and Passport do. Thanks!

Default Top Classic Car Hauler List IMHO

Hi Folks,
I'm a driver for a classic/exotic car hauler fleet and I get to see who does a good job (and who doesn't) when we are all at the big car events. If you have ever seen the loading zone at a Barrett-Jackson / Pebble Beach, Mecum event you know what I'm talking about. They hustle all of us in and out at a rapid pace so the fleets that really know what they are doing can get more cars moved per day with the least amount of damage to the cars. I work for a small company that pulls cars from the online brokers so I have no dog in this fight. So from my experience as a tiny competitor to these haulers, here's the best I've seen and who I would use for my 911 if I could not do it myself:
1. InterCity Totally tops, excellent but expensive. (worth it)
2. Reliable The biggest, really great service too. Can't go wrong with either InterCity or Reliable.
3. Passport Very very good and may be a little less expensive than the others above.
4 Horseless Carriage If you have a brass era or "antique" car please use these guys? They know more about antique car transport than anyone X10.
5. and if you are moving overseas, TransGlobal is you best bet. Not the best service but they do a solid job.

Good luck !

JMC Auto Transport is out of Long Island and generally runs between the Northeast and Florida with a closed van. I use them for my 996 during snowbird season for the last 4-5 years: jmcautollc@aol.com or (607) 865-4624‬. /X3
