dude you're an idiot. 996 is meant to run on 94 if you give it 91 it retards timing.

I use 1 gallon of 100 Octane to every 3 gallons of 91 and it does make a difference. The car runs smoother, has more power, and is quieter for some reason. I can always tell when I am just running 91 because the exhaust note is very raspy.

100 Octane has been $4.29 here in Northern California for the last 2 years, so I expect that with the price of gas going up the way it is, It won't be long that it will not matter if I put in 91 or 100, the price will be about the same

I agree.... in the manual it states the engine is optimized for 93 octane (CLC/AKA method) which is 98 RON.... although it will run on 91 octane but 93 is best...

Timing is only retarded if the knock sensors hear detonation. Stock timing with stock compression should run perfect with 93.

Again, you are an idiot and have no idea about the motronic used in porsches. It automatically gauges the RON at startup when the car first fires, sensing the octane and adjusting the timing READ retarding it for 91, accordingly. My car also idles smoother and has better torque- more power lower with like 5 gallons of 100.

btw not trying to overtly harsh but I don't like when people state a case so positively without any doubt with obviously limited information or no attempt to at least consider alternate possibilities

Seldom correct, but never in doubt. Does anyone know of the availability of the higher octane in Nevada or Tennessee?
