Default Studder aroung 3k

The car is a 2002 996. It is like the fuel cuts out for a milli second. It was like that when I bought the car. It didn't trip any codes at PPI time. Shop drove and gave clean bill of health. My 00 Boxster S never did that. Different motor but is that normal.

My 04 C4S does the same. I only will "feel" it when light throttle around 3,000 to 3,200 - sometimes. I also believe that its the variocam.

Our 2002 had an occasional strong drivetrain thump when cruising, didn't notice rpm. At first it didn't set a code and we just thought it was the transmission hunting between gears. But then it started stalling and set P0335, and after replacement of crank position sensor all faults ceased.
