for those in the states, specifically for me in Illinois, I'm fairly sure that Shell upgraded their V-Power+ from 91 to 93 octane (I believe 95 RON) recently, but I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it. Pretty sure it was 91 before, as I was mixing 91 and 100 racing fuel as an experiment recently to see if performance improved.
I have been using Shell V-Power Nitro + around here since it hit the pumps, but all I can find is 91octane. I can't find anything about 93 anywhere, either.

It's 93 in Austin-area. AFAIK it's always been 93. Shell has recently started advertising a new name or additive mix but no change in octane.
93 in NY (as are all our "Premium Fuels")... I use Shell V-Power +Nitro (not sure what "Nitro" is or means - I think it's their detergent package) because FSI recommended it for my newly built engine...
Gasoline is a commodity that is bought and purchased through suppliers like anything else. I am a Shell dealer and for quite some time 93 octane wasn't available in our market because the closest refinery to us (Irving in New Brunswick) only refined 91. That changed in our market when shell put on the big Vpower campaign a few years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if in some markets they only still have 91 for the above reasons.
I'm actually curious about this - "down under" metro areas (not regional) we have 91 (low), 95 (mid) and 98 (best) some places have 100 but thats rare. Are they comparable ratings to the US fuel/"gas" ratings? I.e. is your 93 our 98?

HI Dan - not quite the same thing. Our fuel is measured on an average of your method (Motor Octane) and Research Octane. So your 98 is more like our 93. So most cars in the US that require premium call for 91. As you can tell from this thread, our premium ranges from 91 to 93 depending on where you are regionally. Regular is 85 to 87 depending on where you are. Most US stations sell a mid-grade that is halfway in between - the pumps can mix the two.
