I preferred the looks of the 4S to the C2. I preferred the one less thing to break of the C2 over the 4S (all wheel drive). After driving both (a couple of each), IMO I just found the 4S felt like a better quality ride and more planted. Please note, the 4S had about 40k more miles on it too (32k vs 70k). Likely the extra weight.
My guess is that the C2 is more fun at an AX (maybe better) and as mentioned, the 4S is slightly better (like milliseconds) on a track. End of the day, comes down to personal preference though I do think those hips really make the car special.
Anyone know the #'s built of 996 2002-2005 C2's vs 4S's?
One extra tidbit. What confirmed my opinion of the 4S as being pretty good was that my very anti water cooled friend took it for a ride and said the car just felt special. I have to imagine that was tough for him to say. He doesn't complement to complement. I was expecting "it's okay I guess".

i cant imagine buying a 996 without seeing it in person and driving it, but others might view such a purchase as pocket change and dont really care. they buy it, fix it, drive it for a year, and sell it for whatever. they had their fun and it only cost a few grand. just my guess.

wow, $19,991 and an 03 turbo for $35,250......

Three Wheelin'
Seems like a good deal if the turbo met the reserve, unless it was beat. I wouldn't automatically assume someone selling a car after a year is a bad thing but I certainly wouldn't buy it sight unseen without driving it and no PPI. One of my current cars I've had for a year and want to sell, simply just don't want to pay for it anymore to sit around.
