Default 03 996 HID Headlight Issue Please Help

Hello, I am having a glitch with my HID headlights that is also affecting front driver turn signal. Sometimes either right or left headlight turns on. sometimes both turn on. After both being on for about 30mins the headlights will completely shut off. I can get either the right or left to come back on after 5 or 6 tries. Please help. Thank you

Clean all contact points. Also could be your headlight switch going bad. Easy fix.

That's so precious that you still trust your dealer techs and service advisors.

How's your ignition feeling? Sticky, loose?

I would also make sure the headlights are seated well in the electrical connectors. I've had situations with my 996 where a loose connection at the headlight created all kinds of wonky light behaviors - high, low and turn signals both front and back!

Beyond that I'd trace the circuit and troubleshoot, verify that you are getting power to the right places, have ground at the right places. Verify all relays function correctly. Ballasts and bulbs can go bad too. You have to go at it systematically, and a wiring diagram and multimeter are essential.

Without any good reason, I'm suspicious of the light and ignition switches.

I have the diagram and a tester. Probably be my next move. Both lights are coming on after many tries but I know better at this point.

Headlights are back where i started. only 1 comes on and driver turn signal absolutely will not function. Losing day light will try other options soon. High beams have never stopped working atleast.

Not true, mine started intermittently and I changed it before it completely failed. The last thing you want is no lights after dark!

what were your lights doing exactly? were they swapping sides like mine? even if i can get both lights on i still have the same turn signal out. once the turn signal started bugging out then the low beams abt 2 weeks after.

Remove the headlight switch, spray the sh*t out of it with an appropriate contact cleaner and work it through all positions. My switch looked brand new and had the same issue. Since cleaning it >2 years ago it hasn’t failed once. Good luck.
