You speak the truth.

This is my first used car purchase. I'm not used to such crappy customer service.

As I predicted, you have the CDR-23 MOST based radio. Any length of time on the forums and you'll realize that you are in good company (like alcoholic anonymous) in regards to the pains of this technology. You have the first run of MOST which is the CDR-23 or PCM2 ... therefore, you inherit "most" (no pun intended) of the problems too. Analog was a lot less problematic, but digital is the future and one way companies get you coming back to the dealerships. All the tricks on the forums really don't help much. Many of the people just take them back to Porsche for re-initialization and diagnostic checks. In many cases, you have to replace the head unit and amp. Other people that don't want to dump more money into an older factory system, choose to change their systems out and go with an aftermarket systems. That's usually the best route financially speaking IMHO.

My 03 would do the same thing if the battery was weak. I had to turn the radio off before I started the car or it would lose contact with the amp or ?. Once the car was running and the volts were up all worked fine.

Cause of the no audio issue in my car was a dead amp. Bought replacement on ebay, and all is good now.
