M030 RoW Sport Suspension Refresh
Greetings all.
I have a 1999 C4 coupe with the standard US suspension, and am looking to refresh it with the M030 RoW Sport suspension. Car has 121,000 miles on it with original suspension.
The Carnewal package includes shocks, springs, bump stops and stabilizer bars with 2x 2 bushings.
Are there other parts I need to get for the install, like shock mounts and endlinks, or can I get away with using what’s already there? Any other gotchas or other things to consider “while they’re in there”?
Thank you.
Guzman

I did this project on my '99 C2 not too long ago.
Parts that I replaced that weren't in my kit were:
Bump stops
Dust boots
Front strut mounts
Front strut bearings
Front strut mount support rings
Rear compensating plates
Rear shock absorber rings
Rear shock top mounts.
I could have reused some of the original parts I think, but I wanted everything fresh.
My car only had 39k so there wasn't anything else steering/suspension wise that needed replacing. With your car's mileage, I would take a close look at everything.
I also did brakes with SS brake lines as a 'while you're in there' thing.

Dont get me started on the “while youre in there” bits.
new mounts are a must.
At this mileage you’ll likely find arms that need replacing. I ended up upgrading with RSS bits and that added to cost but the car feels fantastic.
careful taking the caliper bolts out. They sometime fuse to carrier and you’ll snap the heads off. I had to remove my carrier and have a machine shop remove and helicoil the spindle but its like new now.
check everything underneath and collect all parts before you start. Keep us posted!!!

I would replace everything at that mileage. Here's a photo of what I replaced on mine before I sold it to my Dad. M030 kit purchased through Suncoast, everything else purchased through Pelican Parts. You will need to purchase all the strut top parts (mounts, bearings for the front, bump stops) as they don't come with the M030 kit. All the special metal washers can just be re-used.
There is confusion about the proper height spring top perch spacers to use on M030. My kit came with a rear set of spacers, but not fronts. Porsche has changed the springs over the years which changed the required spacers, so if you re-use what you have you may end up with wierd ride height. Much research and info posted on this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...install-2.html

I'd have to look but IIRC about $3000 all in. New strut top parts are surprisingly expensive (rubber spacer spring perches, bearings (front only), rubber spacers - all are individual and only from Porsche). I re-used anything that was metal (metal washers and spacers) and replaced anything that had rubber or moving parts.
The other arms and drop links are TRW or Delphi. Last I checked you can no longer get the LCAs from Porsche, only aftermarket.

Thanks, I just wanted to know what to start budgeting for, my rears feeling worn and I know the PO did some work up front but not the rear.

The Corona has me bored and considering a refresh of my 2004 C4S Cab’s suspension. My car currently feels harsh and “crashy” over expansion joint type bumps. For those who have done a M030 refresh, did it improve the ride at all? It stinks that the price has gone up so much on the M030 kits ($2260 for the C4S kit alone), so I’m wondering if it’s worth it.

You can get some very decent coil-overs for that price. Generally speaking, coil-overs will most likely be superior to the M030 even if only for the height adjustability (except maybe the least expensive ones). I would suggest looking very closely before spending that much on the M030 (ROW - I wouldn’t even consider the US version).
