Default 996 TT Light Root Wood Center Console damage

Hello all....I am brand new to Renn List as of today! I've owned over 50 Porsches in my lifetime...but I am in need of some Center Console advise and help! I just bought a NEAR perfect '02 Twin Turbo....STICK, it came with the "Light Wood Pkg Small" and the "Rear Center Console Light wood".......along with the E brake and shifter..........ALL THE WOOD ON THE CONSOLE IS CRACKING, DELAMINATING, ETC......The shifter e brake dash steering wheel etc is fine.......It's the Console and the piece if front of the shifter that are bad......No replacement wood available. What do I do for the fix......where is the repair shop that can do it??? etc......I am told to simply get rid of the bad wood.....replace it with standard stock Graphite gry stuff.....UGH! HELP. I am no technician! Thank you.....D.

It is $4,500 from Porsche and it is available according to a dealer’s site. Sounds like you have received good advice to replace it with a non-wood option.

I have the same issue but with AC vents. I am looking at hydrodipping the parts. I saw it done on wheeler dealers, check around locally. It would make it look like it was original but at a fraction of the price. Good luck.

This is spot on: "I am told to simply get rid of the bad wood.....replace it with standard stock Graphite gry stuff"

Yes......I agree....it really is only one area, drivers side to the rear...actually 90 pct hidden by the seat back. I've decided to use my good old Drummel tool, shape it nicely to look correct as possible glue it down nicely, .....and i've called my paint guy in to color match the graphite gry interior and spray the exposed under console area that is exposed.......I love the look of the wood.....and it's only original once, right? Thanks for the replys......have a great weekend!

Default Love wood myself, both in the car and in the ..

Look in Hemmings, 3-4 places that do wood refinish/repair. I had a MB wood inlay redone for a MB many years ago, wasn't to expensive.
