I trying to figure out if my steering wheel is too damaged to be repaired. I have no clue what happened to the steering wheel but its litteraly chipped on top.
I would like to know if you have tried to repair a wheel as damage as mine. Looking at option to redo the leather covering if possible.
So far I found these kit for sale: https://www.custom-steering-wheels.c...g-wheel-kits--
Anybody have try to DIY?
Should I simply try to source another one?
DSW is a great option, albeit expensive. if you don't mind the stock look of your steering wheel, and easy and inexpensive option would be this: https://www.leatherworldtech.com/Del...it-p/dlrk.htm# you'll need your interior color code. Good luck

Thanks guys.
Do you think the leather filler will do the trick for repairing the chips on top of the wheel?
If so I will probably give it a try.
At this price it can't really go wrong as my second option would be re-covering the wheel and the third one is replacing it.
If you like the stock wheel, I'd be surprised if you can't find a great condition used steering wheel either here, at a salvage yard (partssociety.com/quality porsche parts, norspec dismanting, etc.) or on eBay for not a ton of money.
I actually have a near perfect gray wheel I got on here as a loaner wheel while mine is being refinished in Alcantara. If you are interested PM me.
PM'ed
Thanks for your inputs everyone.
If I can't find a replacement at a good price I will probably try to repair it myself just for the experience. I would like to keep the car original if possible so covering with alcantara is not an option at the moment even if it would look awesome Im sure.
Make sense.
I might have found a replacement thanks to thurstonpowers3.
But I think I will still give a try to repair the damaged one.
It will give me some practice to decide if I want to attempt my driver seat, shifter and parking brake handle restoration by myself.
A renowed interior restorer here in Qc quoted me 1000$ for the complete interior restoration minus the steering wheel he didnt want to do.
